My local music store Music Centre Canada has had this gold top Swede guitar on the wall for a long, long time. I played it in the store a few times, and every time, I was amazed at the sheer quality of this guitar. It's priced right too, and I've been sure next time I stop by, someone will have bought it. Nope, didn't happen. The store sold several white Swedes, so perhaps the gold top colour doesn't appeal to everyone. I think it's classy!
So, long story short - I bought it. I stopped by the store to pick up a book. I tried the Swede yet one more time, and felt like it spoke to me: get me, we'll have fun together!, or something like that. I do know guitars don't usually speak to people, but I promise - it got into my head somehow!
This weekend, I've been busy getting set up in my new studio (more on that soon), and of course, playing my new baby! I posted a video demo today of this guitar, so here it is for your viewing pleasure. Let me know what you think.

Guitar sounds good, nice playing too.
Comment added on January 18, 2010Nice guitar and, as always, great playing. (I think you can make any piece of equipment shine.) BTW, your narrative was hysterical. Guitars fall into the same category as puppies - you can't resist.
Comment added on January 18, 2010Great demo! I have an 1971 Hagstrom Swede, and it looks quite simular. Hearing a guitar demo on line does not always do the guitar justice, but through my system the filter switch seemed to muffel the sound quite a bit, and the distorted sound seemed quite harsh and not so creamy as some good LP-type guitars.
Comment added on January 18, 2010Guitars indeed talk to people. Unfortunately their vocabulary is pretty limited: they can only say "Get me, get me!" And when that happens it is very hard to resist...
Comment added on January 18, 2010How does the this hagstrom compare to the micheal kelly patriot with the coil taps.. and is this your main axe.. which one would you keep if you needed only one. the hagstrom or patriot
